The Upright Piano

About Upright Pianos

Carrying the piano up / down stairs is the most dangerous part of piano moving and needs great care and attention when moving, as if you have never moved one it can very easily go out of balance causing severe injury or damage to the piano or home. The pianos weight comes from its cast iron harp that holds the strings. Small upright pianos weigh 300 to 400 lbs, this is because they have a smaller cast iron harp than big uprights or grand pianos. Big uprights run from 500 lbs. thru 800 lbs and some even 900 lbs, these pianos need to be stripped down before they are moved and transported.

* A local piano move is defined as a move within 5 miles of Dumbarton. Ground floor to ground floor is £130 offer applies to upright pianos only, Sameday Service subject to availability.
